Special Events

Ada Farmers Market:
The Ada Farmers Market, a project of the Ada Township Downtown Development Authority (D.D.A.), is back for its sixth year, opening in the lot of the The Community Church. The Market will be open from 11am to 4pm and the season will be extended to October 28. Regular vendors are returning, and new vendors will be introduced. "Chefs in the Market" will return, featuring local experts demonstrating quick healthy recipes with ingredients found at the vendor booths. The series will launch in late June or early July. The popular "Music in the Market" and "Kids in the Market" activities will also return this year. Visitors may wish to follow up their shopping experience by attending Music on the Lawn, located across the street at the Averill Historic Museum.

Arts In Ada:
Local eats, live entertainment and amazing art to feed both body and soul! Arts In Ada is a spring event hosted by the Ada Council for the Arts, and typically takes place the 3rd Saturday in May from 9AM-4PM in downtown Ada on Bronson Street, in front of the historic Ada Town Hall. Music, dance and all day fun await visitors. The event features a variety of artists displaying and selling their quality wares along with live entertainment and great local eats!

Music on the Lawn, Summer Concert Series:
During the warm summer months of June, July and August, the Averill Historic Museum's hilly green lawn invites residents and visitors to come out and relax for an evening filled with music every Tuesday night, starting at 7PM.There is no charge for this event.

Independence Day Celebration:
Ada offers a parade and fireworks to celebrate Independence Day. The popular Ada/Cascade Fireworks display is held at dusk in the Village of Ada at the confluence of the Thornapple and Grand Rivers. Parking and viewing are available in the East Amway parking lot, and the front Amway parking area near Fulton Street. Ample parking within the Village is also available. Festivities include a Fireman's pancake breakfast, Parade, Games, Rides, Crafts, Live Music, Food and Family Fun Tent, plus more!

August in Ada:
The grassy area in front of Amway headquarters is the place for one of the summer's most popular children's events—August in Ada. Food, games, crafts, activities, exhibitors and lots of family friendly fun are sure to delight kids of all ages. Please visit the Ada Business Association for additional information.

Pioneer Days at Averill Museum:
Ada Parks & Recreation partners with the Ada Historical Society for a summer camp experience designed for children.

Roselle Park River Festival & Grand River Run
Come out and enjoy Ada Township's newest park, Roselle Park at the annual free, family-friendly Roselle Park River Festival, typically held the last Saturday in September. The festival kicks in following the Grand River Run a unique, 8K "hybrid" trail race that whisks runners through meadows, woodlands and wetlands with views of the mighty Grand River. A new 5K all-paved trail race is planned in 2014. A 1.5 Mile Fun Run follows the timed race events and is perfect for families with young children. Special post-race festival activities include: live music by area musicians, great food, live animal visits, exhibits and displays by local river conservation organizations, hiking & biking, snacks, hands-on discovery activities for kids, special presentations, and more! Free festival admission and parking.

Bridge Lighting Ceremony & Tinsel Treats & Trolley:
Typically held the week of the annual Santa Parade, Ada's Bridge Lighting takes place adjacent to Leonard Field and features carolers, an Old World Santa, and more.  Afterwards, visitors are invited to stroll through the lighted bridge into the Village for Trolley rides till 8 p.m. Merchants are open late, with treats and refreshments available throughout the Ada Village.

Annual Santa Parade:

The holidays wouldn't be complete without a Santa Parade. The parade line-up starts at 10:30 a.m. in the Ada Dr./Thornapple Shopping Cntr.  The parade begins at 11 a.m.!  The route: Shopping Cntr, R on Thornapple and end at Fire Station #1 where there will be free hot chocolate and cookies, and visits with Santa!
